God who doesn't make sense

Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end. It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him. John 13:1-5

As I was reading this passage again 2 days ago, I realised one thing which I never realise before this. haha. When Jesus decided to wash his disciples' feet, he already knew that Peter would eventually deny him.. he knew that Judas would eventually betray him.. because if you continue to read on, Jesus already predicted his betrayal and Peter's denial.

Sad kan? Washing other people's feet is already a tough thing to do..unless you are a slave or servant? and you have no choice but to obey kan. But Heloooo?! I'm talking about Jesus..JESUS, washing his disciples' feet! It requires a lot of humility! Not only that, he washed Peter and Judas' feet too! Crazy. Doesn't make sense to me.

As I reflect on this, I realised that I pick who I want to serve. Most of the time, I choose to serve only people whom I think they deserve my service. When it comes to people who are difficult to deal with, no.. they don't deserve my service or love. Oh yes, I do feel this way..don't think like I'm so holy and all. haha. But then, my God is not like that. Jesus is not like that.

He washed the feet of people whom he knew would betray and deny him.

He touched and healed the lepers whom no one wants to be in contact with.
He hang out with sinners and tax collectors like nobody's business.
He told the woman who commited adultery, "Now go, and sin no more."
He died on the cross for people who may not even say 'Yes' to him.

He is a God who doesn't make sense... because His love is too great for me to understand fully. But I pray that my heart will be willing to learn from this God whom I claim to worship and love.

You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. John 13:13-15
